Water Jet Cutting – What is it? How does it work?
Of all the cutting processes available today, water jet takes first place most often because it can cut virtually any type of material up to about 6″ thick. The only exception is tempered glass.
Water is pumped up to approximately 60,000 p.s.i. and then forced through a nozzle with a .01″ size hole mixed with abrasives of garnet. The machine is computer driven to give you precise control of the product you are cutting.
Other Advantages;
- Cut virtually any material
- Cut thin material or thick material
- Cheaper than other processes
- No heat generated, leaves satin smooth finish
- No machining required to finish job
- Makes it’s own start holes
- No scaly edges for easy welding
- Cut virtually any shape
- Can cut flammable material
